HLF

HYDERABAD LITERARY FESTIVAL

Hyderabad Literary Festival (HLF) is an annual event that celebrates creativity in all its forms. HLF is a multidisciplinary, multilingual event that draws over a hundred writers, artistes, academics, scholars, publishers from India and abroad each year.

Started in 2010, the Festival has emerged as an important event in the cultural calendar of the country. It represents the rich and cosmopolitan ethos of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, as well as the vibrant spirit of the modern Cyberabad.

In 2022 and 2023, On Page On Stage collaborates with HLF.

January 2023

HLF 2023 was organized by “Hyderabad Literary Trust” with the support of several literary and cultural organizations, and publishing houses. After a gap of two years, HLF 2023 was held in the OFFLINE mode at the Vidyaranya High School, opposite the Secretariat.

At HLF 2023, Konkani is the Indian Language in Focus and Germany is the Guest Nation. Konkani and German literature, culture, and art was showcased by award-winning writers and artistes through talks, panel discussions, screenings, lecture demonstrations, performances, and installations.

HLF is a Festival for All. Its programme includes conversations, panel discussions, readings, workshops, exhibitions, cultural programmes, film screenings, and events for college students and school children.

November 2022

Kaavya Dhaara, the one-day poetry festival, is a celebration of creativity and linguistic diversity. It is also a natural extension of HLF’s sustained focus on poetry. In the very first edition of HLF in 2010, an overwhelming majority of the 75-odd writers who participated in the festival were poets representing nearly two dozen Indian languages. Since then, numerous celebrated poets from India and abroad have enthralled HLF’s discerning audiences with their work. Synergizing the enthusiasm of the poets and the appreciation of the audiences, HLF created an independent track of poetry in the 2019 edition of the festival— perhaps the only multi-genre mainstream literary festival to do so. Then in 2021, while inaugurating HLF 2021, the eminent poet Gulzar wished for an event where one could hear the sound and rhythm of poetry in different languages. The present multilingual poetry festival is a modest attempt to create one such platform.
